Bogged Down by Content Overload? Here’s a Game-Changer!

There is so much content on the internet that it becomes a challenge to organize, search for, and read through all of your saved posts, articles and resources.

For example, if I want to look at content I’ve saved related to LinkedIn Ads strategies, I’ll have to go through and review thousands of pieces of content to find them. I save a lot — don’t judge. LinkedIn doesn’t have a feature to help with this just yet.

I’ve been using a tool called Pocket to help organize all the content I save across the internet for the past few months.

Honestly, it’s an absolute godsend but it isn’t perfect.

This tool lacks two things I think are essential.

One is the ability to mark articles, that are within an organized list, as completed or read. Content has to be removed from an organized list and then archived. What this ends up doing is bunching up the once organized saved content with all other archived content, so this will defeat the whole point of creating a list to organize in the first place. Creating a list is a new feature for Pocket and there could be updates down the road.

The second thing is having a daily reading list that pulls content automatically from the long list of un-read saved content. Imagine opening a doc each morning and seeing 5 un-read articles listed out ready to be read.

Keep saving those posts but dive into that long list of saved content too. Not everyone has a topic they want to study or the time to organize a reading list every morning.

I’ve created a Google Sheet Content Resource Hub tool that does all of that and more by combing Pocket and Zapier. Get free lifetime access to this tool here.

How Does My Google Sheet Content Resource Hub Tool Work?

This tool is designed to work seamlessly with Pocket, helping you manage and actually read the articles you’ve saved. Intrigued? Let’s dive in!

Linking with Pocket via Zapier:

The first thing you should know is that my sheet can pull all your saves from Pocket after being linked via Zapier. It’s a straightforward process that only needs a few steps, and voila! All your saved content will show up neatly in your Google Sheet.

The Daily Reading Tab:

Next up, we have the ‘Daily Reading’ tab. Every morning, this tab pulls 5 content pieces from your Pocket saves, thanks to a handy Google script I’ve integrated. These 5 articles are your reading assignments for the day. If you don’t mark these as read by the end of the day, they will be deleted. No worries though, if you don’t have time to read them all, just mark them as read, and you can come back to them later.

This tab also allows you to add tags, so feel free to categorize your content as you like. To add new tags make sure to input them within the data validation tab.

Remember, the goal here is to get you to read your saved content, not just let it accumulate in the virtual abyss!

The Read and Resources Tabs:

Once you’ve marked an item as read, it moves to the ‘Read’ tab. Here, you can further categorize it as a resource (Please do not mark it as a resource until its within the Read tab). To add new Resources make sure to input them within the data validation tab. Any article marked as a resource then gets moved to the ‘Resources’ tab. This way, you’ll have separate tabs for your general reads and specific resources, making it easy to review and refer back to them later.

Whenever you want to look into a certain topic within the Read or Resources tab, just filter by tag or resource.

The Dashboard Tracker:

Lastly, there’s the dashboard tracker tab. As you read your daily 5 articles, simply check them off in the tracker. Once all 5 are checked, you can click a button, and a Google script will run to add 1 to your total number of ‘Days Completed.’ The catch? You can only hit that button once all 5 articles are checked off. It won’t add until this happens and no matter how many times the button is clicked it only counts as one for each day.

How can my tool help where Pocket lacks?

Marking Completed Tasks:

Remember the Pocket limitation where marking a read article as complete moves it to the archive, messing up your organized lists? Well, my tool has a solution! It allows you to mark completed tasks without disturbing your organization. Once you’ve read an article and marked it as complete, a new row takes its place, ready for the next day’s pull. The read article, instead of getting lost in the archive, moves neatly to the ‘Read’ tab. Problem solved!

Tag, Label, and Organize:

Tagging and labeling is another area where my tool shines. You can tag and label your saved content right within the sheet, offering you more flexibility in organizing your reads. This feature becomes especially handy when you want to categorize articles as resources.

Quick Filter for Topics of Interest:

Want to locate articles on a particular topic quickly? My tool’s got you covered. You can filter to swiftly locate topics of interest, so you don’t have to scroll through endless rows of saved content. Whether it’s AI advancements or gardening tips, your desired reads are just a quick filter away.

Promote Reading and Track Progress:

And here’s the cherry on top — my tool encourages you to read your saved content, not just accumulate it. Thanks to the daily reading tab and dashboard tracker, you can read a set number of articles each day and track your progress. You’ll be surprised how satisfying it is to see those ‘Days Completed’ add up!

In a nutshell, my Article Tracker tool complements Pocket beautifully, filling in the gaps and enhancing the overall experience. It empowers you to stay organized, find your saved content easily, and make consistent progress in your reading goals. So why not give it a try?
