Apple’s Shortcut app has been around since 2018. It’s arguably one of the best features of the iPhone. A planner/organizers dream. And yet, this app has been slept on by most.

I’ve started to take Apple Shortcuts more seriously over the past few months. In that time, I’ve created 4 productivity shortcuts that can save people time and money.

This product includes 4 Apple Shortcuts -

  1. Must Do Work List
  2. Morning Routine
  3. Daily Reminders and Planning (Personal Fav)
  4. Reflect on the Day

I walk through each of them below in detail.

  1. Must Do Work List
    1. This shortcut is to help label and organize the three most important work items to get done in the day.Think of it like if these three items are finished by the end of day, then the day has been a success.Focus on what is essential and cut out all of the fluff.

  2. Morning Routine
    1. Think of this shortcut as a way to help prioritize how to spend the first few minutes in the morning on your phone. If you’re like me, its hard to not scroll through endless Twitter threads or read Medium articles first thing. I’ve created a 4-part morning routine. Part 1-An app (Artifact a news app) opens and I can read and explore for 5 mins before the next app opens. Part 2-Another app (Product Hunt) opens and I can read and explore for 5 mins before a shortcut runs. I’ve found that this short window is enough time to catch major headlines and see what cool new products I should look into later in the day.Part 3-I’ve linked my Must Do Work List Shortcut to run. Part 4-I’ve linked my Daily Reminders and Planning shortcut to run the previous shortcut finishes. All in all it takes me on average about 15 minutes to work my way through this morning routine.

  3. Daily Reminders and Planning
    1. This is one of my favorite shortcuts and I use it religiously. Any time I need to add a reminder and/or block out time within my Apple Calendar, I click on this shortcut. There are two parts to it. Part 1 — Setting Reminders: Set reminders for the events and tasks of the day, week or even month. Make sure to set reminders for everything you’d want to also include in your Apple calendar. Part 2 — Time Blocking: Following each reminder prompt, you’ll be able to add the task or event to Apple’s Calendar app. I’d recommend doing this for every task and/or event. The Reminders app for holding oneself accountable and the Calendar App to organize and review the day’s tasks and events.

  4. Reflect on the Day
    1. Instead of taking pen to a large piece of paper or notebook, which is still a great way to journal but can be a bit overwhelming, my Reflect on the Day Apple shortcut can be the bite sized journalling option you’ve been waiting for. When clicked, this shortcut has 3 parts to it.Part 1 — Review todays reminders: The Reminders App will open for a 20 second review. If you haven’t noticed, there is a trend in this blog post for utilizing the Apple Reminders app. Making this a habit is worth its weight in gold. Part 2 — How do you feel about today? A prompt will display listing out 4 feelings — 🥳Great, 🙂Ok, 😤Frustrated and 🫠Bad.Part 3 — Questions: The following questions will appear one after the other —  “why did you feel this feeling? and What did you learn today?
